Community Kit for SharePoint Released
The Community Kit for SharePoint (CKS) allows almost anyone to create a "community based" web site using SharePoint 2007. Further details of the release including downloadable source code, web parts and site templates are available at: http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/sharepoint/cks/default.aspx.
A "community based" web site is a web site where users request access to the site and are not part of some sort of corporate entity. The CKS uses a membership request web part that allows a user to request an account to access the SharePoint site. Membership requests enter a special list for approval/rejection based on the information provided in the original membership request. The CKS uses Forms Based Authentication (FBA) in conjunction with a number of web parts. Web parts are also provided for users to change their own password and reset their password based on providing answers to security questions. We are already implementing the CKS for a number of our customers. Please contact us for further details and to arrange a demonstration.
